Safe and Correct Autoclaving
Learn More About Liquid Sterilization
A modern autoclave saves you time and money. Did you know that the cooling phase can be reduced by up to 90%?
Heating Phase
The actual sterilization time of, for example, 15 to 20 minutes at 121°C is only a fraction of the total time during autoclaving. This is especially true for the sterilization of liquids, where the heating and cooling phases are significantly longer.
In a conventional, old-fashioned autoclave without an integrated product sensor, the sterilization phase often mistakenly starts long before the liquid has reached 121°C.
In a modern Systec autoclave, it is regulated by both pressure and temperature. The result is a shorter heating time and a correct sterilization temperature of the product. Up to 50% shorter heating times are standard.
Sterilization Phase
During the sterilization phase, for example, 15 to 20 minutes at 121°C, the pressure and temperature are maintained very accurately with the built-in product sensor and pressure sensors. Cooling Phase
In a conventional, old-fashioned autoclave, the cooling process for liquids is very slow. Without active cooling, heat can only be reduced below 100°C by radiative cooling to the chamber (see diagram: conventional cooling).
Legislation requires that the liquid must not be hotter than 80°C before a modern autoclave can be opened. Old autoclaves do not have this safety feature built in, and therefore the risk of accidents is high.
New system and process technology now make it possible to significantly reduce the total cooling time. This means that several hours of waiting can be avoided! It also means that the product is not exposed to heat for an unnecessarily long time. Systec offers many features that ensure optimal sterilization processes and higher productivity. Many features are standard or available as optional equipment depending on the chosen model.
